What they had to say
After deciding that we wanted to go ahead with plans we had for a two-story extension we started looking for a builder. We were recommended a couple and arranged for three to come and quote for us. They all came round and Paul stood out as the one who asked the most questions and had the patience to answer our own (very) long list of questions. He stood out as someone very trustworthy and professional from the very beginning. The 3 quotes were similar, and I believe Paul’s was the middle in price, although the waiting time for Paul was quite long this suited us and actually gave us more confidence, so we agreed and paid the ‘holding deposit’. We stayed in touch and spoke with Paul regularly as we actually changed the plans slightly from the original idea, Paul really helped us with some of the decision-making lending his expert opinion when we asked. We have two young children so were a little apprehensive about all the disruption however all of Paul’s team were fantastic with the kids and they really warmed to them during the build so much so that our youngest was a little disappointed when all the outside structural work had been completed and her new ‘friends’ had to move on to the next job. Paul and his team kept a really clean site and whilst there was some inevitable disruption a large number of our neighbours actually commented to us on how impressed there were that the site was kept so clean and tidy. We have quite an old house and Paul had warned us at the very beginning that it was likely there may be some unforeseen problems that he would not be able to price for up front, we fully accepted this and inevitable there was a couple of things that cost us a little extra however this was in no way Paul’s fault and he was very good at keeping us informed during the construction work. With this small exception Paul stuck with his original quote and we believed offered exceptional value for money. The project did take longer than expected however we are delighted with the final result and would certainly recommend Paul and his team to family and friends.
