Welcome to B.W. Reed & Son Ltd. These terms and conditions set out how we work with you and what you can expect from us. By accepting a quote from us, you're agreeing to the terms below. If you have any questions, please just ask — we're always happy to talk things through.
2. Quotes
We'll visit your property to carry out a survey and provide a written quote for the work you need. Quotes are based on the information available at the time of our visit.
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
Accepting a quote means you agree to these terms and conditions.
If you decide not to proceed, simply let us know — no obligation.
3. Deposit
Once you accept a quote, we'll ask for a non-refundable deposit to secure your place in our schedule.
The deposit amount will be confirmed at the time of quoting.
This deposit is non-refundable, as it is used to reserve your position and cover early preparation costs.
We'll confirm your estimated start date once the deposit is received.
4. Scheduling
Our schedule is managed carefully to give every client the time and attention their project deserves.
Your deposit reserves your place in our queue. Start dates may shift slightly due to project timelines, weather, or other factors outside our control.
We'll keep you informed of any changes to your schedule as soon as we're aware of them.
We do our best to accommodate your circumstances — just talk to us if you have any concerns.
5. Payments
We operate a weekly billing cycle to keep things transparent and manageable for everyone.
An amount will be agreed at the start of each week to cover that week's work and materials.
Invoices are due upon receipt unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Late payments may affect your position in the schedule.
6. Variations and Additional Work
Sometimes the scope of a project changes once work is underway — that's completely normal in building work.
Any changes or additions to the agreed scope will be quoted separately before work begins.
If you request or approve additional work without a prior quote, we'll issue a separate invoice for that work once complete.
We'll always try to flag potential changes as early as possible so there are no surprises.
7. Our Responsibilities
We're committed to carrying out all work to a high standard, in line with current building regulations and good trade practice.
We'll keep you updated on progress throughout your project.
We'll treat your property with care and respect.
Any issues identified during the project will be communicated to you promptly.
8. Your Responsibilities
To help us carry out the work safely and efficiently, we ask that you:
- Ensure reasonable access to the property at agreed times.
- Let us know of any site-specific conditions, hazards, or restrictions we should be aware of.
- Make payments in line with the agreed schedule.
9. Liability
B.W. Reed & Son Ltd carries appropriate public liability insurance. Details are available on request.
We are not liable for delays or issues caused by factors outside our reasonable control, including extreme weather, third-party suppliers, or unforeseen site conditions.
Our liability in all circumstances is limited to the value of the contract.
10. Cancellations
If you need to cancel a project after accepting a quote, please let us know in writing as soon as possible.
The deposit paid is non-refundable.
If work has already commenced, you may be liable for costs incurred up to the point of cancellation.
11. Disputes
We hope any issues can be resolved through a straightforward conversation. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, both parties agree to seek resolution through mediation before pursuing legal proceedings.
12. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these terms from time to time. Any changes will apply to new quotes issued after the update date and will not affect work already underway.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
